A floor is only as flat as what’s under it.
Most of the work happens before a plank is opened: old flooring up, staples and tack strip out, the subfloor checked and levelled.
Then the run gets planned so the seams fall where they should and the last board isn’t a sliver.

About the floor.
Can plank go over what’s there now?
Sometimes — it depends what’s under it and how flat it is. We check the subfloor at the walkthrough and tell you straight, because a floor laid over a bad one telegraphs every dip.
Do you do the stairs too?
Yes. Stairs are their own job: treads cut and fitted, risers finished, and the nosing set so it lands right against the floor.
What happens to the old carpet?
It comes up and goes out with us, along with the tack strip and staples. The room gets vacuumed before anything new goes down.
